Frequently Asked Questions
IT SOUNDS GOOD, BUT HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?
We have a one time application fee of $49.95. ( In some cases this fee may be waived until we actually begin collecting money!)
Our Agency fee is 25% of what is actually collected DURING YOUR CONTRACT PERIOD. If we don't collect, we don't
get paid! --And because our contract period is as little as one year, YOU MAY ELECT TO DISCONTINUE YOUR CONTRACT AT THE END
OF THE CONTRACT PERIOD AND OWE NOTHING MORE EVEN IF YOUR EX CONTINUES TO PAY CHILD SUPPORT TO YOU ON A REGULAR BASIS.
This is how we differ from other collection agencies: most require a contract that is binding while there is ANY arrears
balance, which means they will take a percentage of your money FOR AS LONG AS YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR CHILD SUPPORT.
It is our goal to make child support the priority debt in the absent parents mind: once this is accomplished, you will no
longer need our services. We are sensitive to the fact that you and your children need as much money as possible,
and once the absent parent is habitually meeting their responsibilities, our goal, and yours has been accomplished.
WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED?
To get started all we need is for you to mail us a copy of your divorce or support order, a pay history from either you
or the Court Clerk's Office, and the signed agreement from our Information Package, which can be sent via
fax or mail.
WHAT IF MY EX WORKS FOR CASH OR UNDER THE TABLE?
Cases where the non-custodial parent is working under the table are not as hard to collect on as you may have been led
to believe. The trick here is knowing what kind of heat to put on whom. Most times you are led to believe he works
under the table but our Investigations Team is able to obtain a valid source of income. A majority of our cases start
out this way.
WILL I HAVE TO GO TO COURT?
It's our general opinion that you don't need any more Courts, Judges or Attorneys. You have a Court Order already.
What you need is someone to enforce that order. That's what we do. To obtain any further orders we will show you how
to go through the system Pro Se. You don't need to spend anymore money out of your pocket for legal fees.
WHAT ABOUT AFDC?
Our agency assists Custodial Parents in collecting past due and current non-AFDC support. If you have
received AFDC benefits, the amount of money you received is actually due to be paid back to your state.
If there is a large AFDC arrears balance, the NCSN will not accept your application because these monies have
already been assigned to the state.
I DON'T THINK MY EX HAS ANY ASSETS, IF SO THEY HAVE BEEN PUT IN SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME.
IF THAT'S THE CASE, CAN YOU STILL HELP ME?
The secret to collecting is knowing the real truth about a person's financial situation. Most times the type of
information we have access to is not the same type of information you may have. Did you obtain the information first-hand
from the bank or creditor or has everyone you talked to convinced you there are no assets? Let's be honest, if you went
to the car lot and applied for a car loan and GMAC approved you, what would they tell you if you said "Hey, put the car
in my neighbor's name not mine okay?". They won't do it. We will get the truth about their financial situation
and most of the time it's not as bad as people have been led to believe. Besides, they're putting food on the table
somehow, and it is that income that produces most payments, not hidden assets.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO START WORKING ON MY CASE?
Cases are opened and work is started almost immediately. Since we work on a percentage basis it is in our best
interest as well as yours to get the ball rolling and something collected as soon as possible.
HOW LONG WILL YOU WORK MY CASE?
Our agreement is for 12 months and can be canceled at the end of that period, otherwise, the contract will renew
for another 12 month period. You may cancel your case and the end of any contract period. Even if we are not able to
locate your ex immediately, it does not mean your case will be closed. We will still conduct our national database
searches periodically during the term of the contract.
WHAT IF WE LIVE IN DIFFERENT STATES, CAN YOU STILL WORK MY CASE?
The National Child Support Network is a licensed and bonded collection agency and as such has the ability to
collect in any state in the country, regardless of where either of you live.
WILL I BE ABLE TO GET UPDATES ON MY CASE AND WILL I GET TO TALK TO A REAL PERSON WHEN I CALL?
You will be able to talk to a case representative every time you call as long as it is during regular business hours.
If you want an update on your case after we begin collections you can call the Collections Office. Because of the
large case load, they will only be available from 1:00p.m. through 4:30p.m. CST Tuesday through Thursday.
